Eight arrested in street brawl sparked by social media post

While many of us used our Sunday afternoon to relax before we started another work week, others decides to take a more “adventurous” route.

It all began when April Rios saw a Facebook post from someone threatening to burn down her house.  Instead of contacting authorities, she decided to take matters into her own hands and confront the person face-to-face.  But, this conflict didn’t remain between the two women.  Instead, things quickly escalated as more people got involved, eventually leading to a brawl involving eight people.  Those involved gave different accounts but, one thing was clear — this was no simple fist-fight.  In the end, this was a full-blown melee in which, at some point, baseball bats were introduced by one side.  It is believed that, during the fight, two of the people lost possession of their bats and they wound up on the receiving end of a beating, as well.

When it was all said and done, police arrested all eight people. April Rios, Ruben Rios, Lorenzo Rios, Raul Garcia, Noe Gonzalez, Ramon Angel Garcia and Rebekah Munoz were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and engagement in organized criminal activity.  Their bond was set at $12,000 each.  Rene Bilsen Villagran was charged with resisting arrest.  His bond was set at $1,500.
