Estranged wife to Jesse Williams: Don’t post our kids on social media

Jesse Williams is in the midst of a bitter custody battle.  In April, the Grey’s Anatomy star filed for divorce from his wife Aryn Drake-Lee.  This split has been far less-than-amicable.

The latest chapter in this dispute revolves around Williams’ social media behavior.  Particularly, it has to do with him posting pictures of their children, ages 3 and 1, on his Instagram account.  In court documents filed by Drake-Lee, she contends that she is worried that his posting of their children could impact their safety.  Jesse Williams has over 2.2 million Instagram followers.  Ms. Drake-Lee states that she fears that an unstable fan, in attempts to engage with him, could cause harm to the couple’s children.  She says that his posting of the children has been a relatively new turn, which she sees as an attempt to deflect negative media attention, in the wake of his divorce.

Williams responded to this by claiming that he has a First Amendment right to post pictures of his kids.  Drake-Lee countered this claim by stating that, since their children are not public figures, it is their rights that are being violated.

Since this filing, Jesse Williams has taken down a number of these photos from his social media pages.
