Facebook argument escalates, part of man’s ear bitten off

Last fall, Robert Moore and Paul Dudfield got into a heated Facebook exchange over Moore’s ex-girlfriend.  At one point, Moore offered to meet the other man so that they could fight but, Dudfield declined.

However, as fate would have it, the two men bumped into each other on the street — it seems that Dudfield has relatives that live close to Moore.  At that point, the two men got it on.  During the scuffle, Robert Moore went for Dudfield’s ear, biting off a chunk and leaving a wound that would require 25 stitches to close.

This was not quite the end of the altercation.  After the incident, Dufield’s father and brother went looking for Moore, who they found at Moore’s home.  Moore was armed with a wallpaper scraper and allegedly told the men that he knew where they lived and would burn down their home.  Moore’s brother-in-law, Jason Burke, was also at the home and picked up a concrete slab to threaten the men.  Armed with the slab, Burke chased the two men off.

For his crime, Robert Moore received a sentence of 2.5 years in jail.  Jason Burke received a 6-month suspended sentence with 12 months’ supervision.
